Bug x Glasshouse: Anti-Waste Hair Accessories

Bug x Glasshouse: Anti-Waste Hair Accessories

It’s widely known that the fashion industry has a large part to play in the current environmental crisis, with clothes in the UK lasting an average of 3.3 years before being tossed, and millions of garments and accessories being burnt or ending up in landfill sites.

Inspired by the need for a slower, more considered approach to fashion, Glasshouse friends Bug Clothing take matters into their own hands using deadstock designer factory waste to create a range of handmade, comfortable and timeless pieces to be worn again and again.

You may recognise Bug Clothing from previous Glasshouse Journal articles, having been our neighbours in East London for several years, and we are excited to be launching our very first collaborative collection of goods; Anti Waste Accessories.

Including a selection of Scrunchies, Head Wraps and Hair Ribbons, each accessory is handmade from leftover linen at the Bug Clothing factory that founder Amy Bug had been desperate to find a use for.

Available in a range of different colours, from terracotta orange to baby pink, our limited edition Scrunchies are perfect for sprucing up a pony tail or bun with a little 90s charm, whilst our Hair Ribbons can be used to create a bow on a low pony tail, or woven through braids for a more girly look. Our Head Wraps are made with a thicker band and work well for a holiday look or for slipping over your head on days where you don’t want to pay too much attention to your hair.

With the help of our Creative Director Mia, we have styled each piece to demonstrate how the collection can be worn. Photographed by Sarah Victoria Bates.

The Anti Waste Accessories are available to buy from both Bug Clothing and our very own Glasshouse Shop whilst stocks last.
