Girls on film: Emmanuelle Seigner in Frantic

Girls on Film is our new bi-monthly, hair musing series, in which the Glasshouse team will hand pick their top hair moments from cult flicks for journal readers to try out at home. Already a salon favourite thanks to her impeccable eyebrows – see our Brow Bible series for the full story – French vixen and style icon, Emmanuelle Seigner is also renowned for lusciously thick, chameleon-like locks.

Whilst the actress and model was recently spotted rocking a mid length, bleach blonde hue, it’s Emmanuelle’s wavy bob from her role in eighties crime epic “Frantic” that is providing us a source of modern inspiration. Directed by her now husband Roman Polanski and starring the always dishy, Harrison Ford, “Frantic” is the fast paced thriller (if you haven’t seen it, its perfect wet weather viewing!) that helped make Emmanuelle a global star.

Ladies looking to capture Emmanuelle’s wavy, bouffant bob should first start by selecting the appropriate Brunette tone. If you’re dying your hair, be sure to ask your stylist to pick a warm, brown hue, with subtle honey coloured highlights scattered around the face. This subtle break up of colour will help 21st century ladies match Emmanuelle’s natural-looking colour.

In terms of styling, blow-drying with a large round brush will help build up height and thickness, we recommend a light styling wax like Organic Colour Systems’ “Texture” to retain volume whilst still allowing softness and movement. Remember, Emmanuelle’s “Frantic” look is all about natural looking volume and subtle wave; Fran Drescher style backcombing is a big no no.

Feeling extra nostalgic about Emmanuelle’s eighties aesthetic? Channel her brand of post-punk chic by throwing on a battered leather bomber, a red frock and some larger than life silver earrings. We dare you!
