Craniosacral Therapy | Nervous System Regulation & Somatic Bodywork
Craniosacral Therapy | Nervous System Regulation & Somatic Bodywork
Description
Description
A gentle, non-invasive hands-on bodywork therapy designed to soothe an overloaded nervous system and activate the body’s innate capacity for self-repair, rest, and cellular recovery.
Rooted in the clinical biomechanical traditions of the Upledger Institute, Craniosacral Therapy works with the subtle physiological rhythms of the craniosacral system—including the cerebrospinal fluid, cranial bones, spine, and deep fascial network. Using precise, attentive touch (often no more than 5 grams of pressure, or the weight of a five-pence coin), practitioner Shelana listens to the body’s internal landscape. By following these subtle micro-movements, she gently releases physical tension, structural restrictions, and emotional holding patterns stored deep within tissue memory.
City living, work demands, and emotional stress keep the nervous system in chronic 'fight-or-flight'. Craniosacral Therapy facilitates a profound shift into the parasympathetic state—creating quiet internal space for the nervous system to settle, the breath to deepen, and the body to soften. You leave feeling deeply grounded, structurally aligned, and mentally clear.
Key Benefits & Areas of Support
-
Nervous System Regulation: Shifts the body out of chronic stress and anxiety into deep parasympathetic rest and recovery.
-
Head, Neck & Jaw Relief: Gently unwinds tightness associated with tension headaches, migraines, teeth grinding, and chronic TMJ jaw tension.
-
Fascial & Spinal Decompression: Releases physical restrictions along the spine, sacrum, and cranial bones to alleviate postural compensation and back stiffness.
-
Emotional & Somatic Release: Provides a quiet, non-verbal space for the body to discharge stored stress, emotional fatigue, or trauma held in the tissues.
-
Restorative Sleep & Vitality: Supports improved sleep cycles, down-regulates adrenal fatigue, and restores baseline energy levels.
What to Expect During Your Session
-
Intake & Grounding: A brief initial conversation to understand your current physical holding patterns, emotional landscape, and intentions for the session.
-
Subtle Listening & Hands-On Unwinding: You will lie comfortably and fully clothed on our treatment couch. Shelana places light, receptive hands on key areas—typically the cranium, base of the neck, spine, and sacrum—to evaluate fluid rhythms and encourage structural softening.
-
Integration & Grounding: A gentle closing phase allowing your body to settle into its renewed baseline of ease before stepping back out into the day.
